first_imgCheteshwar Pujara warmed up for the upcoming three-match Test series against Sri Lanka with yet another double century in the Ranji Trophy.Pujara struck his 12th double hundred to go past Vijay Merchant’s tally off 11 for most double tons in first-class cricket by Indian batsman.Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid scored 10 double hundreds in first-class cricket.Three of those 12 double hundreds by Pujara have come in Test cricket.Pujara, who endured a slight dip in form during the ongoing Ranji Trophy, came out all guns blazing to score his 42nd first-class hundred for Saurashtra against Jharkhand in a Group B Ranji Trophy game.The 29-year-old was unbeaten on 125 on Wednesday and reached his 12th double hundred today. He was eventually dismissed for 204 off 355 deliveries. His knock was studded with 28 fours.Pujara was India’s leading run-scorer in the previous home season with 1316 runs with the help of four hundreds and eight fifties.The Saurashtra batsman continued with his rich vein of form and amassed 309 runs from four innings in Sri Lanka in July-August. He is currently fourth in the list of highest Test scorers this year with 851 runs.last_img
