The center handed out nearly 100 boxes within the first 30 minutes. The center says it hopes to have the food distributions twice a month, but it depends on donations from the community. Pastoral Coordinator Robert Henrich says having his center involved in the distribution makes him feel like they are doing what must be done. The boxes were filled with meat, milk, potatoes and cheese. OWEGO (WBNG) — On Thursday, the Common Ground Christian Community Center and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier held a food-box distribution in Owego. The center has been doing food distributions through the pandemic with produce only. But this time, the food bank gave the center food boxes from farmers to families. “Our whole purpose has been to try to gather other organizations here and to be able to, in a place where people need help, more together than each does on their own,” Henrich told 12 News.
