The NCAA Women’s Bowling Committee will select a field of 10 teams (six automatic qualifiers and four at-large). Teams will be ranked, based on available selection criteria, with the top six being placed in the championship bracket. The remaining four teams will play in opening round matches to determine the final two teams that will compete in the championship. Selections will be announced Wednesday, March 28 via web stream on NCAA.com. Poch says Spurs are their own worst enemy after Bayern and Brighton drubbings

first_imgFORGET Bayern Munich or Brighton — Mauricio Pochettino says Spurs’ toughest opponents are THEMSELVES.Tottenham host Red Star Belgrade tonight in the Champions League after winning just three of 12 matches this term.3 Mauricio Pochettino’s are seventh in the Premier League standings after nine gamesCredit: ReutersThe last time they played at home in Europe three weeks ago they were thrashed 7-2 by Bayern.Spurs then lost 3-0 at Brighton the following Saturday. And if they thought the international break would improve their fortunes they were wrong as they could only draw 1-1 at home to winless Watford last Saturday.Tottenham need to deliver against Red Star tonight having mustered just one point from their opening two Group B matches.Boss Pochettino said: “Every game is important to win, every single game is tough. But in this period our worst opponents are ourselves.”Pochettino and captain Harry Kane laughed off a report last week that the Spurs stars are tired, having been run into the ground by their manager’s gruelling fitness regime. But the boss admitted his players’ confidence is “fragile”.He said: “That is normal. It’s natural when you suffer defeats like we have.“It is one thing when you are not good and you lose 7-2 against Bayern Munich.“But when you analyse the game, the first half should have been 3-1 or 3-2 to us. That is the problem.“In the second half, how we conceded in a certain period of the game and when we played well is so tough to take. That affects confidence and trust and then all that happened in Brighton.“We are in a period where we are fragile but in our 5½ years here we have done a lot of good things and set high standards.“The Champions League looks so normal for Tottenham now  but five years ago it was not normal. 3 Harry Kane has scored seven goals for Spurs this seasonCredit: Getty Images – Getty“In our situation now it is normal for us to face questions about our tiredness and that we’re training too much.“But these are rumours and our only answer is to laugh.”The vast majority of  Pochettino’s squad have never experienced turbulence before. And Spurs’ boss said: “For many of our players this is the first time they are in a tough period. People expect something from them and they cannot deliver it to their expectations. But it is a good opportunity for the players to grow and become mature.“Football is so dynamic you need to always think about today and tomorrow.“For sure we have the capacity and quality to turn this negative around.“The last few games weren’t great in terms of results and performance. But we need time to build our confidence.“When you’re full of confidence, everything is going well and it’s easy to play because you have the talent and the quality to do so.“When the tough moment arrives, sometimes it’s not easy to connect with team-mates and it’s difficult to do the things that before you were doing so easily.“That is normal because it’s the pressure and stress. So you believe you need to run more when it’s like this.“Sometimes, though, it’s better to run less and not spend so much energy thinking.“When you have experience of these situations, the leadership is so important.MOST READ IN SPORT THROUGH ITRobbie Keane reveals Claudine’s father was ’50-50′ in coronavirus battle’I ACCEPT’McGregor accepts Silva fight at UFC catchweight of 176lbs in huge super-fightTOP SELLERGavin Whelan has gone from League of Ireland to David Beckham’s InstagramPicturedA CUT ABOVEMike Tyson shows two-inch cut ‘picked up in training’ ahead of boxing returnExclusiveRIYAD RAIDMan City’s Riyad Mahrez has three luxury watches stolen in £500,000 raidPicturedAN EYEFULMeet Playboy model and football agent Anamaria Prodan bidding to buy her own clubI SAW ROORodallega saw Rooney ‘drinking like madman’ & Gerrard ‘on bar dancing shirtless’NEXT STEPJonny Hayes set to move to English Championship having been let go by CelticIT’S…NOT TOMMY BOWETommy Bowe discovers someone has been impersonating him on TinderMAC DADDYTriple H wants McGregor v McMahon with winner getting rights to billionaire strut“Nearly all the  players — 99 per cent of them — have enjoyed a good  period at the club.“It had always been very positive. Tommy Semmy stars in Hekari win

first_imgHekari thrashed visiting team Welgris Morobe United FC 5-0 in the mid-week clash at Bisini Soccer Ground, Port Moresby.Under the blazing heat of Moresby weather, Hekari showed no mercy for the visitors scoring two goals in the first half and three in the second half.It was a tough first 20 minutes as both teams defended well until Semmy made a break through scoring his first goal to make it  1-nil 22 minutes into the game.Semmy wasted no time scoring his second 13 minutes later putting his team in front at halftime by 2-0.In the second half, Morobe’s defense grew weaker forcing an easy goal by the home side to make it 3-0 through Tutizama Tanito in the 66th minute.Semmy’s third goal made it  4-0 in the 81st minute sent Morobe’s goal keeper Enoch Naime off the field after he sustained a minor injury when he dived to save the ball.   Koriak Upaiga scored another easy goal in the 84th minute  to make it 5-0 in front of the net to take his team home  to victory. On the other side of the range, I may have been payback as reigning premiers Lae City Dwellers also thrashed Rapatona FC 5-0 at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.Hekari and Dwellers have so far won four games each, Rapatona  with one game, while Morobe has lost all five games. The final game will get underway this Saturday before the grand final on March 19 in Port Moresby.last_img read more

Javi Sánchez: “We have to take advantage of our options”

first_imgWhen you were offered the chance to come to Valladolid, did you think about it a lot or did you see it as a way to advance your career? The truth is that I felt very lucky, very grateful that this club was interested in me, there were more teams, but I opted for the project and the confidence they showed in me.How do you see the future? Would you like to return on loan next season or would you be prepared for the challenge of staying in the first Madrid team?I do not rule out any of the two options, but now I only think about finishing the season, I want to finish well, without injuries and feeling important in this team.Do you dare to give a result? No idea, I hope it is good for us, in the end Madrid has points to spare and it is sure that it will take many other matches. What has this Real Madrid that started badly, which seemed to be not, but always ends up fighting for titles?Madrid is Madrid, in the end it has world-class players. It seems that there are sections of the game in which it seems that you dominate him, but in any minimal failure, in any error, he penalizes you.How can you beat him? With maximum humility, maximum illusion. It is a very difficult game, they are going to make things very complicated, but surely we are going to have some moment of the game in which we have our option and hopefully take advantage of it.What is it like to be in Ronaldo’s club?Well, it is an illusion, they bet on me, came with the maximum possible desire and with the intention of helping the team to the fullest. Do you understand the position of Lunin and Jorge de Frutos having left this winter market?Yes of course. We are players that we have to play because we are young. We all have the illusion of playing and I understand your position of looking for minutes in another team. From the outside how have you seen the team?Well, confident, he knows what he has to do. It is true that we are not going through a good time, but I sincerely see the calm team, who knows what they have to do at all times. We have a very clear objective, which is salvation, and that is why we will fight. And Real Madrid is coming … you will not be on the field, it has not been called, but in the same way I suppose it will be a special match for you … After five months in Valladolid, he was finally able to debut in Copa against Tenerife, happy?Happy for that long-awaited and expected debut. It was a game in which, in the end, we did not get the victory, so I am left with a bittersweet taste: happy for the official match debut and sad for the defeat, for the elimination.Maybe he came a little right at the end of the game as a result of long time no play?Yes, in the end in the last 20 or 25 minutes the gas ran out, but I gave it my all for the team, so I ended up happy.Of the three players that Real Madrid had yielded to Real Valladolid is the only one who has decided to stay, I imagine that with the intention of ending the injuries and having continuity …Yes, of course, especially to see if they respect my injuries. Let’s see if I’m lucky enough to focus this second part of the season without injury, calmly and see what happens. The truth is that I am looking forward, looking forward to it.There was talk in December that you also thought about going out …Well, I was calm, I was coming from an injury, I had been injured for a long time, I talked to the coach, he gave me the confidence to have continuity and told me to assess the possibilities and, in the end, I decided to stay. The truth is that I was very clear that I wanted to stay. Whatever happens is a very special match. We play against Real Madrid and we know the difficulties that this type of game has. We are going out with all the desire of the world in our field and we want to give a great joy to the fans.last_img read more

Six arrested by the video of Victor

first_imgThe National Police have arrested six people linked to the dissemination of the video of an intimate and sexual nature of the former coach of Málaga, Víctor Sánchez del Amo, who was removed from office by the club following those images. To the person from Puente Genil (Córdoba), who was arrested for posting the aforementioned video on Twitter, five more detainees are added, who allegedly spread the video through the WhatsApp messaging network, they have informed Efe police sources. The Cybercrime Group of the Provincial Police of Malaga carries out the investigation of the dissemination and, in addition to what is published on Twitter, they found traces of diffusion of the video through WhatsApp. The Malaga technician claims to the entity headed by the Qatari Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani to declare the dismissal void, a compensation of 600,000 euros for moral damages and readmission to his job.Sánchez del Amo was fired on January 11 by Malaga through an official statement in which he said that the dismissal of the technician was based “on disciplinary causes, in accordance with applicable regulations”. The Madrid man, who was removed from his duties four days earlier, on January 7, had previously reported to the police that he was being victim of harassment and extortion.last_img read more
