PMTC, Corriverton Jets, Rollers register wins

first_imgPORT Mourant Training Centre (PMTC), Corriverton Jets and Rollers Volleyball club all registered victories when the Three Doors Strikers Volleyball Club of Berbice staged a one-day tournament last Sunday at its club court, situated at D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice.The tournament attracted 13 teams from the Ancient County and was contested in three categories (male, female and junior male) and PMTC came out victorious in the senior male category, winning the final by a 2-0 margin (25-13, 25-20) over the tournament’s hosts Three Doors Strikers.For the victory PMTC were rewarded with $20 000 and a trophy while the hosts earned $10 000 and a trophy.In the female category where there were three teams, Corriverton Jets came from behind to defeat Port Mourant Volleyball Club 15-9, 18-16, 15-13 to claim the $7 000 prize money and a trophy, while Port Mourant Volleyball Club had to settle for a trophy.In the Junior male teams category, five teams participated and Rollers defeated Three Doors Strikers in the round-robin competition. Both teams were awarded trophies.The day’s activity was attended by Guyana Volleyball Federation president John Flores who congratulated the Three Doors Strikers on their initiative for staging the tournament.He also extended his congratulations to the Berbice Volleyball Association for the wonderful work it has been doing since the beginning of the year to aid in the development of the sport in the Ancient County.last_img read more
